Fresh warning issued from Stagecoach over bus stop closures

The diversions started on May 28.

The company posted an announcement today on X (formerly Twitter).

During this time services one and 14 will not be able to serve the R2 to R4 bus stops.

A statement on the website says: “We have been told that due to health and safety concerns regarding the trees at the forecourt/Oxford Rail Station, some bus stops have had to close.

“Service one will drop off and pick up at a temporary bus stop at the end of the forecourt/ towards the exit.

“Service 14 will terminate at Frideswide Square bus stop R8 and will depart from Frideswide Square R7.

“We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause, albeit out of our control.”

A GWR spokesperson previously said: “The situation with tree roots causing damage to the pavement outside the station is worsening, so we have put measures in place for the safety of customers.

“We will be meeting with Network Rail and local stakeholders over the coming weeks in an attempt to identify a solution to the problem.”

Oxford City Council also told the Oxford Mail on May 30 that they will be engaging in discussions with Great Western Railway and National Rail to seek a resolution.
